Our mission is to unlock the potential of University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill technologies and knowledge through commercialization by providing early-stage capital and industry expertise. Towards this end, we invest in ventures that commercialize or develop technologies, inventions and ideas in life sciences and information technologies emanating from UNC-Chapel Hill.
Our Vision
To ensure that startups and other University-sourced companies survive the early stages of their formation, improving their opportunities to fully develop and deploy their technologies, UNC-Chapel Hill launched Carolina Research Ventures (CRV). This is accomplished by providing critical discovery and development capital, as well as growth capital at times, industry expertise, and strategic relationship building.
Who We Are
To provide the best support to its portfolio companies, CRV brings together an exceptional group of people with a wide variety of talents, experiences, and relationships. These include a Board of Directors, an Advisory Board, and a management team focused on selecting, then pushing forward promising companies towards commercial success and meaningful impact.
We do this through multiple investment programs to allow for a breadth of investments and ongoing engagement with the companies we support. Our investment structures include both direct investments and those made through our partnership with Hatteras Venture Partners.
