Mr. King is currently the President and CEO of UNC Management Company, the not-for-profit company established by UNC Chapel Hill in 2002 to manage the long-term endowment and foundation assets of the University. In this role, Mr. King serves as the Chief Investment Officer of the UNC Investment Fund, a $5 billion fund that manages endowment and foundation assets for a number of UNC System schools and their affiliates. The UNC Investment Fund is a highly respected investor in the venture capital arena with over $400 million invested with an elite group of venture capital funds.
Mr. King has been managing university endowment portfolios for over 25 years, including spending 16 years in the Dartmouth College investment office. Mr. King served as Dartmouth’s Chief Investment Officer for eight years prior to joining UNC Management Company in 2005. Previously, Mr. King was an Investment Officer at New England Mutual Life Insurance Company and staff accountant at Price Waterhouse & Co. Mr. King graduated with a BA from Middlebury College in Middlebury, VT and received an MBA from Dartmouth College.
