Executive leadership managing investments in young companies throughout their life cycles that are commercializing UNC assets in Life Science and IT. Role is to develop and grow CRV as a resource for the University research and innovation community, managing existing investment managers, building relationships with other potential investors, while overseeing all of the internal operations and investor relations of CRV.
Mr. Melton currently serves on the board of OfficeMart, Inc., a broad Internet servicing and sourcing company, and the executive advisory board for Vivosense, Inc. an AI/ML company focused on wearable sensor data used in clinical trail and clinical care. He also remains on the board as a founding member and former chair for NC Sports for Special Kids, a charity bringing athletic activities to handicapped children in the state. In addition, Mr. Melton continues to advise a number of firms in health care research and development, asset management, green/clean technologies, and materials in the U.S and abroad.
After a long career at Duke University where he helped start and grow the Duke Clinical Research Institute, the leading academic research organization in the world, he spent time helping other organizations internationally create new lines of business before taking on the CEO role at a few firms. Then he spent a decade as President and CEO of a material sciences company multi-national operations serving customers in waste encasement, infrastructure repair, military security and building protection.
